Bio
Sound of Vim is the artist moniker of Edmund Ng, a Singapore-based songwriter and music producer, also working as a composer for film and games. At the heart of his work is songwriting and production—creating emotionally driven songs that serve the artist, the story, and the vision behind the music. His songs sit mainly in pop, indie pop, and indie rock, shaped by strong melodies, atmosphere, and narrative intent.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Sound of Vim blends acoustic instruments, electronic textures, and sampled sound design to produce music tailored to each project. He works closely with singers and film and game creators to translate ideas into finished, expressive music. Alongside songs, he composes for films and games, drawing from visual storytelling and other art forms to support on-screen narratives. Through his social media channels, he shares his creative process—where songwriting, production, and storytelling meet.
A graduate of JMC Academy (Sydney) and C3 College (Sydney), Sound of Vim has been active since 2022. His latest songs include Christmas Without Santa and Oh Child. His work also includes piano-led and orchestral scores film and game scores, instrumental compositions and arrangements for French horn, and instrumental backing tracks. Notable projects include Believe Me, a song written and produced with The Purple Bard for a short film directed by Nahid Atalla.
As an instrumentalist passionate about music making, he has played various instruments with The Honeymakers Big Band, Singapore Wind Symphony, Strathfield Symphony Orchestra and Living Praise Presbyterian Church worship band.
As a music instructor fostering the growth of young and adult learners, Edmund Ng has taught privately and has conducted songwriting classes with Family Central (Fei Yue Community Services) and taught brass instruments at Sydney Catholic Schools, Rosyth School and Anglo-Chinese School (Junior).
